Happy  Birthday soon, to another little guy I have shot with for most of this year... I got to do yet another smash Cake session today... Love them!  The kids do as well!  As I have said before, it lets them just play and have some fun!  I have to say, the awesome eye's on this baby just sparkle when he smiles!  I was also amazed, this baby , whom is the youngest of my 1 year old  group for this year.... can do some walk-en!  So, happy Birthday Jaxon. I would not, could not, help but smile all the way through this session!

Want to look a little thinner for your next session/event?

Here is a small list of things you can do to look a little more slender for your next occasion/ shoot.  First : Choose a photographer that knows some corrective posing.  {hint, if they act confused at the word, they don't know what it is. }  Second : For 48 to 72 hours or so before your session, wedding, etc... Salt is the enemy!  You can skip those packaged meals etc for a few days to look awesome right?  Some people say they look/ feel inches smaller when doing this alone!  Third: Hydrate!   Water, fruit like watermelon, grapes, apples, berries! This is awesome all the time...but most importantly for 48+ hours before session/event! Forth: Make sure clothes are not too big or too small, I guarantee, people will be able to tell if your sucking it in...so be aware of this in the dressing room when choosing apparel..baggy clothing can add lbs as well.  Lastly : Find time to De-stress, you will carry your body more elegantly  if you are not stressed... a massage, a Epsom salts bath, a soak in a hot tub, sauna, or other such activity the day before is helpful.
I will be sharing some tips on things to do for your skin in a future blog. I am always looking for vendors to help with tips and products that work for customers.... Customers can also share what has worked for them...

I was so happy to do Alana's 3 month session today. I feel like it was only a week ago we did the newborn session!    She  is  sweet little baby!  I loved this shot, it's just not often you get sleepy shots at this age, and I was pleased that we did! I am falling into my niche area's in photography over the years, and babies are a big part of that!  I love that I get to watch these sweet angels grow up!  It's always an honor to be made a part of a family's life in this way!  To be trusted to capture their precious memories and help preserve them forever! I find myself looking forward to each visit with new ideas! TY ...

OK, so Smash Cake sessions are my fun thing to photograph! I loved this session.
O, yes... She had so much fun with this cake! This session has become more and more popular in my studio over the last year! It's a great way to let the kids just have fun, be messy, be kids! This awesome cake was made by Kendall's  mom!   I found it really cute that she was picking off the dots and eating them first!

This awesome cake was made by : http://www.facebook.com/sweetcakesbakery.andria { Sweet Cakes Bakery Andria }I would have to say between the brides awesome style and the Bakery, this cake was delightful.  Family and friends of the bride and groom can view all their wedding images on my site : http://mtmphotographycustomedits.smugmug.com/Portraits/Wedding/Kristina-and-Mike-2012-wedding/23751743_J2bb82#!i=1923697046&k=VcxmXpV ... Where else can you have this much fun?
I was sooooo pleased with how this session turned out.  It's a very fun thing for your child to take part in... Session fee is the same as normal... you supply the smash cake and bring a few extra wipe... and I clean up the mess after you leave... Easy peasy! I will do free phone or email consults on choices for what to do to prepare for this session... You've waited a whole year for this, why not capture it in all it's glory! Besides, I think I have as much fun Photographing smash cake sessions and editing them as the kids do making the mess!   So, come on in for some fun!

For some fun Idea's to make your own awesome cake here are some links:

Kendyl  has been coming to my studio since she was a newborn baby. Though the year I have photographed her as she grew.  She has been a wonderful and happy baby to photograph and I look forward to seeing her through the years... Its always sad when they hit the year mark though, we see their cute faces a little less often.  So coming up really soon... Happy Birthday Miss Kendyl!
When I was asked by this bride to photograph her wedding, I was excited as usual... I love collaborating on weddings with fun and beautiful brides!  I was surprised when I arrived at the church though....It was like a class reunion.....I was photographing a wedding for a former classmate, as well as a bridal party full of  old classmates and other awesome people...This wedding was a blast.....But this was not the most amazing part.... I saw something that day, while all brides and grooms are in love.... these two had something I don't see often .... even though the day was rushed, we had very limited time, and all was hectic... never once did They ever seem frustrated or annoyed.  This is rare because most all couples get a little cranky under pressure ... but not these two....they were very patient and aware of each others needs... reminding me of the couples I have met that have been together for 50 years... so, before I get all teary eyed ... I would just like to say... Congrats Steve and Jamie!!!

I had a great ad/ product session today with Floral Sense. They  makes all sorts of Awesome wedding arrangements! I am dedicating a little of my time to helping brides and others with service needs find awesome people who will do a great job for them.

I had an awesome model session  come in tonight... I could have passed out when I saw how great this dress would look with the flowers from this mornings shoot! She really did an awesome job, this was her first shoot and we should all give her a hand... She was really fun!

This is awesome for your man in the  military, for Christmas, his birthday and more....everything is done on a private, professional, and classy level.  Your MTM Photography and Custom Edits photo session will be fun!  You can have fun , sexy, classy images at any age, size, or with themes, etc. I believe in selective poses to make every woman of every body type feel like a model...I can not stress enough though, this is done on a professional level, I do not shoot less than classy images.

I have been asked many times why I will not  just give a disk and let customers print at Wal-Mart. My answer, I care more than that about my work... and my customers finished product to give a disk and let this happen......

5 Things Real Photographers Want Customers To Know

1. There are many things to look for when choosing a photographer.  Professionalism, just look at site choices. If they care about you, they will have a site like Smug Mug Pro for viewing.  They will use proper grammar on said sites, they will study their craft continually... and it shows!  These things are more important than one thinks!  If you have selected a professional they won't come at you with a pop up flash, they own more back up equipment than a cell phone,  and they won't put your child on a wrinkled sheet as a "backdrop" ....They study safety in posing... knowing what is a composite and what needs to be done.

2. Photographers know that a newborn is only so small once, or a baby has certain needs during a session .  To capture this age is priceless, you can't get it back to do over if you choose incorrectly.   Real photographers train for moments, plan, have these needs in mind.  My studio has even recently started the switch to laundry soaps , cleaners, and more that are safer for the environment, and baby, kids, clients... I am stressing , things need to be cleaned in a studio, to a great degree!  Your children of any age are important!

3. Sessions should be fun and original in some way.  A lot of Non professional "photographers"  use about 2 or 3 set ups for months or longer  over and over and the clients lose out in the end. Customers go to freelancers so they don't get cookie cutter images.

4 This is a big one, just because you get a CD does not mean your getting a deal!  Real professionals use labs for their work.  They know there is a difference in archival quality vs Wal-Mart kiosks. Images will last longer, look better for the professional color space saved in, and labs will leave the image untweeked, where as kiosks will auto correct which isn't always good.  Also a portion of print profits, go right back into new props for your next session, and proper cleaning of props.  I do know for a fact, that some photographers  whom really do care about  their company's future, will sell discs for hundreds of dollars or include them in a larger package.  They generally stress print choice importance. { They care more about quality, it is their name linked to the images}

 5. Look for quality in all work. If the images a "photographer"  posts are grainy, blurry, or oddly colored... chances are yours will be too. There should be no shadows all over eyes, you can clearly see eye color, subject should be looking awesome.  I myself make sure my screen colors and my print colors look the same.  It may not look the same if you view on older computers, or schools, libraries, etc. It will look better!  With that being said, Facebook does not look 100 percent as good as on Smug Mug, but it doesn't discolor, add blur, tons of grain etc.  Be wary of people whom use this as an excuse... Your babies images should not look grey, blue, red, or yellow.  You should be able to see the photographers printed work if requested.

Notice Cost was never really brought up.... well although I have awesome rates I want to stress... a well done job, correctly photographed images and a good experience... priceless.  When choosing a photographer, I know we all have budgets, but what is the cost of a moment with no do overs, what does it cost when we choose badly and have to go get images done elsewhere? What is the cost of images we can't replace when the disk is obsolete, or broken... and there are no professional online backups to order from?

As, I say whether your local and choose MTM or if you are just reading this to aid in making a choice in your home city or state.... choose wisely... make an informed choice.
